Currently, I am in my Block 1 internship at Moravian Falls Elementary School in Wilkesboro, NC, working with a class of 3rd graders taught by Belinda Marino.

Prior to working in this classroom, I had my own class for the summer of 2015 when I worked with the Charlotte Freedom School Partners. During that time, I taught 2nd graders skills to improve their reading comprehension abilities.

Lastly, in my sophomore year of college in 2014, I was placed at Hardin Park Elementary School in Boone, NC for a field experience internship where I worked after school with 2nd graders to help them with their homework assignments.

Classroom Diversity

Growing up, I have always been in diverse classrooms whether that be diverse because of race/ethnicity, gender, or socioeconomic status. Because of that, I think my opinions and overall schema has been affected tremendously. Therefore, I would love to teach in a class filled with diversity so that my students can be exposed to cultures apart from their own and see things differently like I have since having that experience as a child.

The Bigger Picture

My overarching goal as an educator is to make my students feel proud of themselves and like they have accomplished something no matter how big or small the task is for them. I want them to realize how great they are and to embrace their intelligen, and I want them to fall in love with learning just like I have over my years of being in school.
