On this page you will see a bunch of photographs of my ideal type of classroom. The way you set up your classroom is a major component in classroom management because where your students sit inevitably affects whether or not they can wee the board and whether or not they have a lot of distractions in their view. Ideally, I would like to have a carpet area where students will congregate at the beginning of lessons, when I read to them out loud, or to do activities on. I would also like to have an open and spacious classroom that is not over-crowded with furniture because that will restrict my placement of student desks/tables for centers. I would have my personal desk where I store important papers, but I would also have a kidney bean table where I can do small group work with my students. Lastly, I would love to have a great reading corner where students can go to get comfortable and snuggle up with a good book; in that reading corner there would be a bean bag chair or two for students to sit on, and there would also be some cushions for them to sit on with bookshelves that square off the area from the classroom but is still in my line-of-sight. This kind of environment is inviting and will, hopefully, make learning fun for my students!

This is a perfect example of the kind of reading nook I would like to have in my classroom. Of course all students would not be able to go there, but that could be a reward for good behavior!
